Introduction

This one-year ACGME Accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship is affiliated with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, the Department of Family and Community Medicine, the University of Nevada Athletic Department and Nevada Physical Therapy. The program provides training in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions specific to athletes and in exercising individuals. Successful completion of the fellowship allows the resident to be eligible to apply for the CAQ in Sports Medicine. Fellowship director is Dr. Arthur Islas. Why did you choose the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, Sports Medicine Fellowship? The importance of excellent fellowship training was important to me while choosing a fellowship. I found that the sports medicine fellowship was the best fit for me. This fellowship provides fellows with a well-rounded exposure in traditional training and additionally offers training in rodeo, scuba diving, wilderness medicine and marathon medicine which is ideal for me.
