Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Department of Surgery supports a one-year position for Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery (MIBS). The MIBS curriculum includes basic laparoscopy (appendectomy, hernia repair, cholecystectomy), endoscopy, advanced laparoscopy (solid organ, foregut, colon), single incision laparoscopic surgery, and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. The training will be provided primarily by the Chief of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery, but includes adjunct faculty in colorectal surgery, robotic surgery, pediatric surgery, gastroenterology, surgical oncology, and minimally invasive trauma surgery. Participation in national meetings related to minimally invasive and bariatric surgery is encouraged and supported. Call and coverage responsibilities are negotiable, and range from 1-2 per month.
Requirements include completion of an approved residency in General Surgery. Applicants must also qualify for Nevada licensure and malpractice coverage. In addition, documented commitment to academic and clinical excellence is essential.
