RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine welcomes Jeremy Alltop, MSA, FHFMA, to its new position of senior associate dean for administration and finance.
With a strong background in academic health care and higher education finance, operations and clinical management, budget and strategic planning, process improvement, and team building and leadership. Alltop joins the senior leadership team at UNR Med effective Feb. 6, 2017.
Alltop, who has a rural background, said he has spent a significant amount of time in his career helping medical schools through change, an important trait as UNR med transitions to a Reno-centric medical school.
"This was a once-in-a-career opportunity and a magnitude of change for me. I welcome the opportunity to use my skillsets and the experience I've gained to make Reno more robust," he said, adding: "What is here is successful and does well; now we are adding on to benefit academic medicine here."
Alltop jumps into his new position and continues the work toward transitioning UNR Med into a Reno-based medical school with strong outreach and service to rural Nevada communities. This work includes strengthening the partnerships with Renown Health and the VA to ultimately improve the health of Nevadans. Alltop comes to Nevada from West Virginia where he most recently served as senior associate dean and chief administrative officer at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Prior to that assignment, he held the associate chief financial officer position at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has also held positions at the University of Kentucky, The Ohio State University and the State of Ohio Department of Mental Health.
Alltop received his Master of Science degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Marshall University. He is a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
