University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine names Julie Ardito, APR, as Senior Director, Advancement and Engagement
New position leads strategic communications and marketing for UNR Med

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine names Julie Ardito, APR, in the newly-created role of senior director, advancement and engagement, effective April 5, 2017.
Ardito will lead strategic communications, brand management, public relations, marketing and events for UNR Med. By connecting the advancement and engagement elements to the mission and strategic planning of the institution, Ardito and her team will enhance the reputation, relationships and resources of the school, emphasizing partnerships, outcomes and impact.
Thomas L. Schwenk, M.D., dean of UNR Med, said the appointment of Ardito is the culmination of a strategic reorganization of the school's advancement and engagement program.
"By bringing communications, marketing, creative and events under one umbrella, UNR Med is launching what I believe to be a robust and innovative approach to communicating with and engaging our internal community, our external constituents, and our alumni, donors, friends, partners and patients. Julie's expertise, experience, vision, energy and professional relationships make her the perfect leader for this initiative," he said.
Ardito brings more than 25 years of strategic marketing communications experience to UNR Med. Prior to joining the school, she was principal of Julie Ardito Public Relations, a public relations and marketing communications firm which served a diverse group of companies including Sierra Nevada Corporation, Renown Health and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.
Her professional portfolio also includes serving under Governor Brian Sandoval as director of community relations and constituent affairs, serving as director of public relations for EDAWN and as vice president/director of public relations for Rose/Glenn (now The Glenn Group), a Reno-based advertising, interactive and public relations agency.
Ardito graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno and is an Accredited Public Relations (APR) professional. Her industry contributions have earned Sierra Nevada Chapter of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Spike Awards for excellence in public relations, the PRSA Sierra Nevada Chapter's Gold Spike Award for public service and commitment to the northern Nevada community, and American Marketing Association Ace Awards for excellence in marketing.
The University of Nevada, Reno recognized Ardito with dual honors, including "Outstanding Service Awards" from the University of Nevada Alumni Association and the College of Engineering for ongoing professional service.
She currently serves on the University of Nevada Reynolds School of Journalism Dean's Advisory Council and as a member of WIN, a Reno-based business networking organization of which she was president in 2009.
