Proud Partners for a Healthier Future in Northern Nevada

Vote for Dr. Slonim – Put Reno and Renown in the National Spotlight

Tony Slonim

Renown Health President and CEO and clinical professor with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, Anthony Slonim, M.D., DrPH, is once again putting the national spotlight on northern Nevada healthcare.

Dr. Slonim is among the 150 prestigious nominees short listed for Modern Healthcare's "50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders" honor. This exclusive list features executives from elite hospitals across the country including Cleveland Clinic and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Even more impressive, Dr. Slonim is one of just 34 west coasters and the only Nevadan to be recognized.

This distinguished honor adds to Dr. Slonim's resume as a national healthcare leader. Additionally, he is the inaugural editor-in-editor of the AAPL's Physician Leadership Journal and online library; chairs the American Journal of Managed Care's ACO Coalition and was recently appointed to AHA's Health Care Systems Council.

Now to reach the final Top 50, he needs help from you and the entire community. The final honorees will be decided through online voting as well as input from Modern Healthcare's senior editors. After you cast your vote, please share this link with others who may be interested in helping Reno, Renown and Tony get national recognition for all the great work done in our community.

Vote every day through Friday, April 28!

A Magical Match Day Celebration

Students at Match Day

UNR Med students entered the Great Hall of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for a Harry Potter-themed Match Day celebration March 17. The Class of 2017 learned where they'll complete residency by opening personalized golden snitches under floating candlelight.

Four UNR Med students will complete their psychiatry, family medicine and internal medicine residencies in northern Nevada, with rotations at Renown Health.

"The education and training students receive here prepare them well to compete for residency positions across the U.S.," said Cherie Singer, Ph.D., University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine associate dean of admissions and student affairs. "I am particularly pleased to see so many of our students pursuing primary care and choosing to stay in Nevada."

Renown Provider Recruitment, UNR Med Take Advantage of Tours, Presentations

Taking a tour at Renown

On March 8, Renown Provider Recruitment gave a Renown Regional Medical Center tour to the UNR Pre-PA Student Club group. The group was highly engaged, wondering about hospital specifics, volunteer and employment opportunities. A photo from the tour is above.

On March 9, UNR Med Office for Community Faculty gave a presentation to Renown Provider Recruitment. The presentation included the role and need for Community Faculty. We also discussed co-recruitment ideas.
