DHS|UNR Med Faculty Development Support Funding

FY17 Spring funding cycle opens January 1, 2017

We are pleased to offer the 6th consecutive year of funding opportunities through the DHS|UNR Med Faculty Development Support Funding program. The intent, through this competitive funding opportunity, is to create a culture of discovery, diversity and excellence by fostering new approaches to teaching, the development of new research ideas and the acquisition of new clinical, research and teaching skills that will benefit our institution, faculty, students residents and patients.

Each year, funding award recipients present on supported projects or research and benefits to their professional development as well as benefits to the School of Medicine and the Division of Health Sciences. In March 2017, recipients will present at the annual Faculty Development Days events in Las Vegas and Reno (please watch for more information).

Additional funding opportunities through UNR

The office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation is offering a Faculty Travel Grant program to all academic faculty members who are at least 50% FTE. Travel grants will be competitively awarded to academic faculty members who are planning to travel to present scholarly work as a senior author or specifically traveling to interact with a funding sponsor for the purpose of enhancing funding potential.

The travel grants are $500 for domestic travel, and $1,000 for international travel. Following NIH Policy for Foreign Travel on NIH Grants [fic.nih.gov], travel to Canada will be considered as domestic travel. Applications will be due to the OVPRI through InfoEd by January 25, 2017. A committee composed of faculty from different colleges will review applications and applicants will be notified by email by February 10, 2017.

The OVPRI has made the Faculty Travel Grant application available online through InfoEd. If you have not yet completed InfoEd training, please contact Erika Waday (ewaday@unr.edu) to gain temporary access to the grants portal.
