Pediatric Genetics and Genetic Counseling

Patient Care

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine offers genetics and genetics counseling in Las Vegas for children and families. Our pediatricians can diagnose a child or teen with genetic disorders like birth defects, mental retardation, connective tissue disorders and metabolic disorders.

Families considering a pregnancy or are currently expecting and have a family history of birth defects, or who have had two or more miscarriages should contact our pediatric geneticists. These specialists are highly trained and can often determine and begin to treat genetic disorders before birth through prenatal testing. They also provide acute care for mothers and the fetus during pregnancy and after the birth of the child.

Our physicians are university-based, so they have access to latest resources and technology to ease concerns about your child's genetic disorders. The pediatric geneticists are compassionate and are committed to determining the best possible outcome for all pediatric patients. Whether they're treating a child for Down Syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, or congenital heart disease, our physicians are dedicated to ensuring the patients and their families are well informed and comfortable during every visit.

A child born with a birth defect, learning disability or not growing normally is very concerning to parents. We understand the anxiety and stress you face, which is why our pediatric geneticists are available to talk with you and put your fears at ease. We want our pediatric patients facing genetic disorders to live happy and health lives, so come meet our staff today; you'll be in the best of care.
