The Clinician's Ceremony celebrates the transition of the second year medical students from the basic science years to the clinical years of medical education. The ceremony, held during the Transitional Course the week prior to the start of Year III, is a transitional experience designed to usher medical students into the clinical part of their training and clerkships. This event was pioneered by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. It also recognizes outstanding residents through the Gold Foundation's Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Awards.

Family and friends for all students in the Class of 2018 are invited to attend. Faculty and staff are also encouraged to attend. Clinical faculty have an important role in the ceremony, along with students in the Class of 2018.
