Supporting the Well-Being of Residents Living with Dementia

Registration Fee and Refund Policy: $59.00 per person includes 7.0 hours of continuing education, printed handout packet, a preselected lunch of your choosing, beverages, and free parking.

Target Audience: Directors, administrators, and staff of Homes for Individual Residential Care, Residential Facilities for Groups (group homes), Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Facilities, and caregivers (both lay and professional) or others interested in the topics presented are welcome to attend.

Topics to be presented at this year's conference focus on dementia and include:

  • Dementia Friendly AmericaTM Nevada Initiative with Dr. Jennifer Carson
  • Transcending the Tragedy Discourse of Dementia: An Ethical Imperative for Promoting
  • Selfhood, Meaningful Relationships, and Well-Being with Dr. Peter Reed
  • Facilities Regulation Questions and Answers with the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance
  • Understanding Dementia: Practical Perspectives with Dr. Steven Rubin
  • Love, Sex, and Alzheimer's with Dr. Elizabeth Edgerly
  • Positive Approach to Brain Change® with Ms. Jennifer Williams-Woods

Continuing Education Credit and Certificate Policy: This training has been submitted to the Nevada State Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administrators and for Social Workers for 7.0 hours of general continuing education credit, and this has been approved by the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine's Sanford Center for Aging for Nurses for 7.0 hours of continuing education credit. NOTE: This training is only appropriate for nurses and social workers that work in or with residential care facilities.
