Biography

Dr. Patterson, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, completed Emory's internal medicine residency program and was a faculty member at Michigan State University's medical school for more than a decade. He has been highly involved in medical student education, serving as the course director for the MSU Biostatistics and Epidemiology Course (2005-2011), the Genitourinary Systems Course Director (2006-2013), and as the Director of Medical Education for McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital (2010-2014).

Of particular note, Dr. Patterson was awarded quite a number of teaching awards. These include the Faculty Teaching Award for Ingham Regional Medical Center (in 2002, 2006), the Hospital Teaching Award for Ingham Regional Medical Center (2003 and 2004), the Distinguished Lecturer Award for Michigan State University's medical school (2008 and 2009), and he was the recipient of Michigan State University's medical school Clinical Faculty Excellence Award.

In addition to his work as a primary care physician and serving as a faculty preceptor in the resident continuity clinic, Dr. Patterson will bring his considerable experience in the education of medical students to the School of Medicine's Office of Medical Education.
