Biography

Denise Rubinfeld became a nurse-midwife in 2011. She completed her Master of Science and midwifery certification at the University of California San Francisco. Called to the mountains, she moved to Reno in 2013 and joined Women's Health Specialists, which combined with Saint Mary's Women's Health Center in 2014. Throughout her career she has taught medical and nursing students, and she is thrilled to combine her passions for teaching and clinical care at UNR Med Women's Health Center. She was elected President of the Nevada Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives in 2017. Through this position, she aims to expand midwifery care in Nevada. Her special interests include yoga for pelvic issues, adolescent health, trauma-informed care, eliminating health disparities, reproductive justice, and excellence in clinical training. She is Spanish-speaking and loves to travel. During her free time, she enjoys teaching yoga, vegetable gardening, and exploring the trails of Reno/Tahoe with her family, friends and dogs.
