This document is meant to supplement the rotation goals and objectives document found in the resident handbook.

  1. Residents are required to work all weekdays, generally from 7:00AM - 5:00PM. During these hours, the resident should be available by phone/pager to assist with new patient admissions or other rotation duties as directed by the attending physician. Residents are expected to work weekends/holidays when on call.
  2. Residents will be scheduled in Family Medicine Clinic (FMC) on Monday and Friday afternoons from 1:30 - 5:00 PM. These FMC assignments take priority over other rotation duties. The resident should also attend the weekly Family Medicine didactic sessions from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM each Wednesday.

In general, the resident should not have more than 12 patients assigned.
  4. Residents are responsible for performing and documenting admission patient H&P's, daily progress notes, physicians orders, discharge summaries, procedures and procedure notes on all patients assigned to them.
  5. Residents are responsible for presenting and discussing their patients with the attending physician on a daily basis during the admission or during rounds. The resident should also inform the attending physician immediately of any change in the patient's status or care plan.
  6. Residents are responsible for preparing and presenting didactic material as directed by the attending physician.
  7. Residents are responsible for inquiring with the attending physician about his or her performance and areas for improvement.
