Charis Himeda, PhD addresses FSHD Canada Foundation annual meeting

Dr. Charis Himeda presented at the FSHD Canada Foundation annual board meeting in Calgary CA.  Charis recently received funding from FSHD Canada to further her CRISPR work for FSHD.

Charis Himeda speaks at Los Angeles Ghostly Gala for FSHD

Dr. Charis Himeda represented the Jones lab at the anual FSH Society Ghostly Gala fundraiser in Los Angeles, CA.  The event, "A Night of Comedy" was held at the historic, art deco Cicada Club in LA.  Charis fired up the crowd with an encouraging update on recent therapeutic advances in FSHD.

Peter Jones joins the Scientific Advisory Board for Amis FSH

Dr. Peter Jones joined the Scientific Advisory Board for Amis FSH, a French FSHD patient advocacy foundation founded in 2002 by FSHD patients.  With over 200 members, Amis FSH provides support and information for FSHD patients about FSHD research going on around the world.  AMIS FSH hosts an annual meeting of patients, families, medical doctors and researchers.  In addition, AMIS FSH raises money and funds FSHD research projects.

Welcome Dr. Yosuke Hiramuki

The Jones Lab welcomes Yosuke Hiramuke, PhD as a new post-doc.  Dr. Hiramuki joins us from the Tapscott lab at FHCRC where he worked on structure-function analysis of the SMCHD1 protein, which is involved in FSHD1 and FSHD2.

Charis Himeda receives grant from the FSHD Canada Foundation

Dr. Charis Himeda received a $35,000 grant from the FSHD Canada Foundation to optimize her CRISPR-inhibition therapeutic approach for FSHD.  The funding will allow her to design and develop new AAV deliveralbe CRISPRi technology.

Feature article on FSHD research perfomred by Drs. Ryan Wuebbles and Takako Jones

Synapse, the online magazine for UNR Med, published a feature focusing on Dr. Ryan Wuebbles, former member of the Jones Lab and currently a Research Assistant Professor at UNR Med, and his career path to becoming a neuromuscular disease researcher and entrepreneur. Dr. Takako Jones is collaborating with Ryan on a potential small molecule therapeutic for FSHD and NMDs.

Jones Lab at the New Directions in Skeletal Muscle Biology and Disease conference

Peter Jones attended the New Directions in Skeletal Muscle Biology and Disease conference in New Orlean.  Dr. Jones presented a poster on the lab's FSHD-like model mice:

"The FLExDUX4 transgenic mouse can be used to develop FSHD-like mouse models with pathophysiology ranging in severity"
