Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery

Department of Surgery: Las Vegas

Thank you for your interest in the otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) residency program at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

The residency program is based in Las Vegas. It is five years in duration, including one year of internship.

The program offers exposure in head and neck ablative, neuro-otological surgery, laryngology, plastic surgery, sinus surgery, adult and pediatric tertiary, as well as routine ear, neck and throat procedures.

Residents will operate and perform clinical duties at University Medical Center (UMC) and MountainView Hospital. The program's primary teaching hospital, UMC, has 554 beds and is the only Level I trauma center in Nevada.

Extensive exposure to surgery center-based practice is designed into the program.

The program participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) and accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the match. The program does not require additional data other than what is required by ERAS. Letters of recommendation are limited to three, with at least two in an otolaryngology discipline. Information regarding ERAS procedures is available from the dean’s office of each medical school through ERAS.

The application deadline is mid-November.

If you have been granted an interview, you will be notified on or after the end of November via e-mail, if available, and a letter mailed shortly after.

Thank you for your interest in our program.
