Font Guides

Typography helps maintain a consistent brand identity internally and on public-facing materials. ITC Cheltenham Pro and Knockout are the two font families preferred for all School of Medicine branded materials.

Primary Typeface - KNOCKOUT HTF48-FEATHERWEIGHT

This font is primarily used for major headlines, section titles, and as a large background font, especially as the word "OUR." This font should be used in all-caps.

Secondary Typeface - ITC Cheltenham Std Condensed

This font should be used for all other headings in its condensed bold-italic format, and as body font in its book condensed format.

Substitute Typography

Any outside partners hired to design materials for the School of Medicine are expected to purchase and use our primary font families, Knockout and ITC Cheltenham Std Condensed. However, not all members of the School of Medicine will have access to these fonts. In these cases, fonts approved by University of Nevada, Reno style guide – Myriad Pro and Minion Pro – can be used as substitutes:

• Use Myriad Pro Bold in place of Knockout for headlines
• Use Minion Pro in place of ITC Cheltenham Std Condensed for secondary text, such as body (paragraph) copy and sub-headlines 

For team members who do not have access to Myriad Pro or Minion Pro, Verdana and Georgia should be used as substitutes:

• Use Verdana in the place of Knockout for headlines
• Use Georgia in the place of ITC Cheltenham Std Condensed for secondary text, such as body (paragraph) copy and sub-headlines

Finally, for team members who do not have access to Verdana or Georgia, Arial and Times New Roman should be used as substitutes:

• Use Arial in the place of Knockout for headlines
• Use Times New Roman in the place of ITC Cheltenham Std Condensed for secondary text, such as body (paragraph) copy and sub-headlines
