University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Communications Manager Tessa Bowen and Multimedia Specialist Brin Reynolds.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) announces two new posts in its Advancement and Engagement department with Tessa Bowen named communications manager and Brin Reynolds named multimedia specialist.

As communications manager, Bowen will collaborate with the School’s faculty, scientists and students to tell the stories unique to UNR Med and advance leadership in medical education and research and drive engagement for Nevada’s  first public medical school. She will lead national, statewide and local media relations efforts and support integrated communications and marketing initiatives through content development, publications and communications counsel. Bowen will serve internal UNR Med departments by assisting with and consulting on public relations, media relations and other communications.

Bowen brings 10 years of higher education and nonprofit communication experience to UNR Med. Most recently, she served as public relations and communications manager for the National Strategic Research Institute at the University of Nebraska. She was responsible for expanding the awareness of the institute, delivering stories about the successes earned, innovations created and Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) solutions found by University of Nebraska researchers, in addition to executing overall strategic communications including PR, media relations and marketing campaigns. Prior to that, she served as the director of operations, communications and marketing for Nebraska State Soccer Association.

Bowen’s community involvement has included supporting Wonder Weims Rescue and NorCal Weim Rescue, non-profit no-kill animal rescue groups dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Weimaraners through various community outreach, education and foster roles. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication from Doane University in Crete, Nebraska and a Master of Public Administration degree from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.

In his new position, Reynolds is responsible for developing engaging digital content in the form of promotional videos, photography, presentations and other multimedia applications. Through his work, Reynolds promotes and tells the UNR Med story using sophisticated video, photography and other visual assets in support of school priorities and Advancement and Engagement communications and marketing initiatives. Reynolds will lead creative and technical video and photography consultation for the UNR Med community, executive leadership and other campus constituents. His work is featured on med.unr.edu, UNR Med social media channels, in print and at UNR Med major events.

Reynolds is a professional visual storyteller from Reno. He has worked as a professional freelance photographer in the Reno/Tahoe area for more than 10 years, specializing in event, wedding and editorial photography, as well as videography. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in photography from the University of Nevada, Reno and earned a Master of Business Administration, also from Nevada.
