Danielle Eaton has been promoted to senior director and research manager for the new University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) Clinical Research Center, providing researchers from early-career to accomplished, the opportunity to carry out independent clinical, translational and educational research at UNR Med.

The Clinical Research Center offers a one-stop shop approach to clinical research, expertise and resources for biomedical researchers. In her new role, Eaton will provide consultation and analysis of project design, logistics, and resources. She will facilitate matches between researchers and medical trainees that advance research objectives and expose medical students to unique and broad research opportunities, including clinical trials.

Eaton will oversee the center's funding support, infrastructure and space; and personnel. Additionally, she will collaborate with more than 1,000 UNR Med community faculty and northern Nevada hospitals, facilitating the growth and success of clinical research designed to improve and advance health care in the community.   Eaton has served as director of research operations and administration for the past two years working closely with UNR Med students, residents and faculty to provide a range of support services to enhance medical students' research opportunities. She oversaw the school and the students' compliance with human research protections and funding agencies, assisted with study design, provided resources for accurate data management and located local and national mentors for students.

"Danielle's strong leadership within UNR Med's research operations and administration, expanding research opportunities for medical students and assistance developing the clinical research center will serve our medical students, investigators and clinical community well" said Jeremy Alltop, senior associate dean, administration and finance.

"We are pleased that Danielle is taking on this leadership role as well, as adding a strong advising role for our medical students, said University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine Dean, Thomas L. Schwenk, M.D. "We expect that she will lead the clinical research center in an inclusive, vigorous, aspirational way as she has to this point. Her promotion demonstrates our commitment to expanding both research capacity and health care services in northern Nevada that are in such need for so many patients."

Prior to UNR Med, Eaton served as a clinical research coordinator in oncology at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System.

A University of Nevada, Reno alumna, Eaton earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree, also from the University of Nevada, Reno. She serves on the foundation board of the Reno Orthopedic Clinic.
