Reflections from the Dean: Announcing University Health

News & Events

Introducing the first University Health location at 6130 Plumas St., the new home of University Health Internal Medicine and Multispecialty Care.

Welcome to a new era and a new strategic priority for the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. I am proud to announce the launch of University Health, the clinical arm of UNR Med. While we have always managed small clinical practices in support of our teaching mission, we are now developing a higher profile as a community-based source of primary care, with a new brand, new office and a new commitment to outstanding patient-centered care.

As part of this strategic priority, we are pleased to announce that University Health Internal Medicine and Multispecialty Care has relocated from its former location on the Renown Health campus to a new location at 6130 Plumas St. in Reno. With this move, the department of internal medicine becomes the first clinical department to operate under the new banner of University Health.

The launch of University Health, and the relocation of internal medicine clinical services to its new location, recognizes University Health's strong relationship with the School of Medicine and its physicians' commitment to quality, community-based care and educating the next generation of doctors.

The newly-renovated Plumas Street location is a 12,961-square-foot, modern health care facility providing a patient-centered approach to adult medicine as well as specialty services for older adults through Sanford Center for Aging Geriatrics Specialty Care in 2020. In addition, we will explore future opportunities to add select primary and specialty services. The facility includes 25 exam rooms, along with a quiet room and learning studio for physicians and medical residents. Patient parking is complimentary, plentiful and conveniently located near the practice entrance. I want to personally thank the health care professionals and staff members who worked so hard to make this transition happen. On behalf of UNR Med, I welcome patients to this new location, as we develop yet other new facilities to serve the community. Learn more about University Health.
