UNR Med announces Rural Outreach Clinic

New rural outreach clinic opens in Yerington, Nevada

Northern Nevadans who are uninsured, underinsured or without a social security number can receive free medical care this Saturday, September 21 at an upcoming University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) Rural Outreach Clinic in Yerington, Nevada. UNR Med offers free clinics in a continuing effort to assist the region's medically uninsured with needed health care services.

The following clinic is available:  

Rural Outreach Clinic in Yerington:

  • Saturday, September 21 - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

The Rural Outreach Clinic will be held at the Yerington Boys and Girls Club Gymnasium and will offer blood pressure, diabetes screening, physical evaluations and flu vaccinations. No appointments are necessary. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. For questions, call 775-217-9299.  

The Yerington clinic is a collaboration among UNR Med, the Community Health Alliance and Nevada Human Development Corporation. Rural Outreach Clinics are made possible by donor support. UNR Med offers monthly Student Outreach Clinics at UNR Med's Family Medicine Center, located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, and is expanding Rural Outreach Clinics as a way to increase access to care in underserved communities and prepare medical students as future physicians. Licensed faculty and clinical community physicians supervise the medical students and the care patients receive.
