The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) is expanding its clinical enterprise to improve access to quality care for Nevadans while enhancing medical education. As part of its clinical expansion into the northern Nevada community, UNR Med has announced a new name, University Health, for its clinical practice. The practice was formerly known as Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) Practice Plan.

This week, UNR Med’s Internal Medicine Multispecialty Care becomes the first clinical department to operate as University Health. University Health Internal Medicine Multispecialty Care has relocated from its location on the Renown Health campus to a new location at 6130 Plumas Street in Reno, off Plumas Street and Ridgeview Drive.

At the new location, patients will continue to see their same physician and most major insurance plans will be accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. New patients are also welcome. New and current patients can make an appointment and confirm insurance coverage by calling (775) 327-5000.

The newly renovated Plumas Street location is a 12,961 square foot, modern health care facility providing a patient-centric experience with internal medicine clinical services and geriatric services through the Sanford Center for Aging, as well as future opportunities to expand primary and specialty services. The facility includes 25 exam rooms, along with a quiet room and learning studio for physicians and medical residents. Patient parking is complimentary and conveniently located near the practice entrance.

University Health internal medicine physicians, Sanford Center for Aging Geriatrics Specialty Care clinicians and internal medicine residents will be based at the facility. Internal medicine physicians and residents work together as a team to discuss the treatment plan and care of all patients.

“The launch of University Health, and the relocation of internal medicine clinical services to its new location, recognizes the strong commitment by the School of Medicine to serving the community’s health care needs through new and relocated clinical practices and facilities. At the same time these expanded  services supports our mission of educating the next generation of doctors and enhancing high-quality clinical care through clinical research,” said UNR Med Dean, Thomas L. Schwenk, M.D.
