Faces of the Pack

The University is looking to feature medical students for its ongoing #FacesOfThePack feature on Instagram. Do you know a medical student who is passionate about what they do and inspires others? In just one or two sentences nominate them! The Office of Marketing and Communications will take it from there, including interviewing and getting a photo of the individual. The posts garner tremendous engagement and are an excellent pipeline to future students. Please ensure the student you are nominating is fine with being contacted for a feature.

Using Virtual Reality in Medical and Nursing Student Training

University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Reno, along with UNR Med, Renown and several other University departments are working together to revolutionize nursing and medical education at Nevada.

A pilot study at the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center uses Virtual Reality (VR) to place students in medical emergency situations with a simulated patient, nurse and doctor. University Libraries created a 360-degree video that serves as the students' functional laboratory. This study is bringing medical and nursing students together in a cross-functional learning environment.

Kudos!

Congratulations to the ICS Staff

Congratulations to the ICS staff on drastically improving the phone answer rates for the family medicine department. In a very short time, they have increased the rate of answered calls from 58 percent to 85 percent. This significant improvement results in a greater patient experience by ensuring patients are able to see their providers in a timely fashion and receive high-quality care.

Congratulations to Yumei Feng
