Community Faculty Honored at Appreciation Breakfast

University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine students showed their appreciation to the community faculty physicians who dedicate their time to teaching the next generation of physicians as part of UNR Med's Office for Community Faculty at an appreciation breakfast, April 28 at The Grove in Reno.

Medical students presented nearly 70 community faculty mentors with a video and gift-wrapped lapel pins, recognizing them as "the heart of the medical school."

During his remarks, School of Medicine Dean Thomas L. Schwenk, M.D., said the partnership between UNR Med and its community-based faculty is vital and instrumental as the medical school transforms itself into a Reno-based school. He also thanked the faculty in attendance for transforming the educational experience of medical students and for inspiring them.
