New Women's Health Center at UNR Med

University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine opens new Women’s Health Center

Women in northern Nevada will have more options and resources for their health care, thanks to the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine opening a new UNR Med Women's Health Center, offering obstetrical, gynecological, and midwifery care to women in Reno and northern Nevada.

UNR Med's Women's Health Center medical staff includes M. Pia Anderson, M.D., FACOG; Lynn Anderson, DNP, CNM; and Denise Rubinfeld, MS, CNM. The center is welcoming new and previously established patients. The dedicated team of women's health experts at the Women's Health Center are trained specifically in women's health issues and serve as an extension of services offered by primary care providers to address the distinct healthcare needs of women. The team works closely with primary care providers to ensure open communication regarding each patient's diagnosis and treatment plan.

Active Shooter and Threat Assessment Training – June 13

Join the Office for Faculty for the UNR Med Active Shooter and Threat Assessment Training presented by University Police Services Commander Eric James and Risk Assessmet Manager Kelli Nidever Wednesday, June 13 from noon-1:30 p.m. in PME lecture hall 12. Training will cover the "Run, Hide, Flight" concept, providing an overview of the threat assessment process to learn warning signs of a threat, how to report individuals who are exhibiting threatening or concerning behaviors, preventing violence when possible and law enforcement responsibilities to critical incidents.

To participate, please register by Wednesday, June 7. Contact Debra Glogovac for questions or additional information. 

Anatomical Donation Program 2018 Memorial – June 8

Join the UNR Med class of 2021 for the Anatomical Donation Program 2018 Memorial service Friday, June 8 from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. at Walton's Funeral Home as they show their appreciation and gratitude for the invaluable educational experience provided by anatomical donations.

To continue honoring these remarkable individuals, the Nevada Donor Network has worked with UNR Med and the University to establish the Donor Memorial Garden just outside the Pennington Medical Education building. Here's the full story from KTVN Channel 2 News

Medical students offer free care at UNR School of Medicine

Since 1997, the School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno has conducted free health clinics for local residents. The Student Outreach Clinics have helped around 15,000 people. KOLO's 8 News Now Terri Russel went to the clinic to see how it operates and why it's a real learning experience.
