#PositivelyUNRMed Blood Drive, Aug. 1

As a steadfast community partner, UNR Med is asking for your help to answer the urgent need for blood in the region. Advancement + Engagement will host the #PositivelyUNRMed Blood Drive Tuesday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Silver 10 parking lot, located north of the Pennington Health Sciences building.

The drive was inspired by professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Phillip Usera, M.D., FCAP, who was recently interviewed by KTVN's Kristen Remington to highlight northern Nevada's blood shortage and the importance of donating blood.

"Fundamentally, healthcare still relies on the compassion and generosity of the public," said Dr. Usera. "Blood drives are a perfect example of this, and without donations from volunteers, millions of patients each year would be denied such a simple, yet pivotal component of modern medicine."
