Watch the "Our Future is Now" video which premiered at the UNR Med 2017 State of the School Address Tuesday, Sept. 12.

UNR Med Selected as One of Nine National Pathway Leaders for ACGME’s Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments Initiative

The UNR Med 2017 State of the School Address kicked-off with a video capturing the spirit of our school, which ended with, "Our future is bright. Our future is alive. Our future is now."

This message could not resonate more than with Graduate Medical Education (GME).

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) announced September 13 that UNR Med, along with eight other Pathway Leaders, has been selected to participate in a Patient Safety Collaborative. Over the next 18 months, this Collaborative will work to create and test a framework for residents and fellows to generate a standard for a culture of patient safety in GME programs across the country.

After being accepted to the first of a series of Collaboratives focused on optimizing ACGME's Clinical Learning Environment Review Program, UNR Med's Designated Institutional Officer for GME David L. Carlson, M.D., M.Div., said, "This is an honor and a significant responsibility. GME lives in both UNR Med and Renown Health. I am excited to see the remarkable things we can do together-for our residents and patients-that can be a model for GME partnerships throughout the nation."

Read more about UNR Med’s partnership with Renown Health and how the two healthcare institutions plan to work together to optimize UNR Med’s involvement in the Patient Safety Collaborative.
