Goals/Objectives

  • To gain exposure in the inpatient management of acutely ill patients with refining of history, physical examination and oral presentation skills.

Description of Rotation

The student will evaluate newly admitted patients and perform the initial history and physical examination. Students will be expected to develop a differential diagnosis and management plan based on their initial evaluation and then appropriately record the information. Students will continue to follow patients and document progress notes on a daily basis. Oral presentations and daily progress notes will be reviewed with the resident and attending during morning rounds. Required reading, literature searches, and medical reviews are expected.
