Goals/Objectives

• At the completion of this course the student should be able to: 1. Gynecologic ambulatory care with regard to: a. Successful screening strategies for pelvic gynecologic malignancies; b. Surveillance for status of cure/palliation; c. Diagnostic strategies in the diagnosis of the common pelvic gynecologic malignancies; d. Psychosocial aspects of managing the cancer patient. 2. Discuss the pathophysiology, typical presentation, preoperative evaluation, surgical approach, and prognosis of the common pelvic gynecologic malignancies.

Description of Rotation

This 4-week course in both ambulatory and inpatient care of patients commonly encountered in a general gynecologic oncology practice, is designed for highly motivated students interested in surgery, gynecology, oncology. Students will be considered a member of the health care team and participate under faculty supervision in both ambulatory and inpatient care. Call schedule is to be arranged with faculty.
