The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine accepts visiting students only from medical schools accredited by either the LCME or the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. If your school meets this accreditation requirement please complete the application process through the AAMC's Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program. All requirements are listed on our page in VSLO. If your schoool requires an affiliation agreement in addition to being an affiliated VSLO school, please see our affiliation agreement information.

In order to maintain a quality learning environment, the number of visiting students accepted into any elective rotation will be determined by the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in its sole discretion.

Las Vegas Electives: UNR Med electives taken in Las Vegas are part of the curriculum of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. These electives are administered in partnership with the UNLV School of Medicine, and faculty have dual appointments at both institutions. Therefore, you may receive communications about your elective from UNLV employees. If you have questions, please contact us.

Insurance Coverage:
The School of Medicine does not provide professional liability insurance coverage on visiting students. Therefore, all students that are accepted are required to have professional liability insurance coverage from their own medical school; or they must obtain an individual policy.

Student Stipends: 
No student stipends are available. The School of Medicine will give no credit to visiting students. Evaluation of the student's performance will be made using the evaluation form provided by the visiting student's medical school. This will be forwarded to the student's medical school upon completion of the elective.

Arrangements for housing and meals must be made by the student.
