Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology

The Northern Nevada Cleft Palate Clinic is a multi-disciplinary health care team housed within the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Nevada in Reno. The team is dedicated to the care and treatment of children with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial disorders. Cleft lip and palate is the most common birth anomaly and occurs at the rate of 1 in 598 births.

The Team meets one time per month (usually on the first Friday) and is comprised of volunteer health care specialists including plastic surgery, speech pathology, orthodontia, pediatric dentistry, oral-maxillary surgery, otolaryngology, audiology, genetics, and pediatrics. The goal of this clinic is to provide free services to patients in need without the need to make multiple appointments with individual professionals. The team evaluates about 150 children per year at no cost to the patient.

Clinics are held the first Friday of every month from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Please call (775) 682-7002 to schedule an appointment.
