Syphilis in Primary Care

Cohort Series | Offered Annually | 6 Sessions | Tuesday | 12 - 1 PM Pacific Time 

The new Syphilis in Primary Care ECHO program which aims to support primary care providers including women's health, ER, outpatient, and pediatricians with needs related to syphilis and other STIs. Program will focus on both adult and congenital syphilis beginning with screening and testing. In addition, the program will also review populations at risk for syphilis or other STIs, as well as complications that can occur due to these diseases. This ECHO program also provides a forum for providers to share challenging patient cases with colleagues and experts in the field.

Our team

  • Luis Medina-Garcia, MD, FIDSA – Adult Infectious Disease. Luis H. Medina-Garcia, MD, FIDSA is an Infectious Disease (ID) physician and the Medical Director for Telemedicine Services at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is the Founding President of the Southern Nevada Infectious Disease Society (SNIDS), established in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic to create community amongst ID providers in the state and promote excellence in the practice of our specialty.
  • Ivy Spadone, MS, PA-C, AAHIVS – Primary Care & STIs. Ivy began practicing medicine in 1999 and holds AAHIVS credentials as an HIV specialist, is passionate about healthcare. Her focus on HIV care since 2000 reflects a dedication to trauma-informed care. Ivy believes healthcare provides an opportunity to care for less fortunate individuals in a humble, non-judgmental manner with kindness. Her commitment to making connections, building trust, and accepting individuals for who they are is at the core of her approach to healthcare. Ivy remains connected to Northern Nevada HOPES, dedicating 3 – 6 hours per week to continue making a positive impact on the community through comprehensive HIV care. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Physician Assistant Studies Program at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine.
