Registration Information

Cohort Series | Offered Annually | 6 Sessions | Tuesday | 7 - 8 AM Pacific Time 

This new ECHO series, launching September 2026, will focus on lifestyle, medication, and surgical strategies for weight management. Our goal is to provide information for patient care across the spectrum of weight management needs and treatment protocols. In addition participants will be offered the oppurtunity to present cases to subject matter experts in the field of weight management and treatment protocols. 

Our team

  • Alexander L. Ayzengart, MD. Dr. Ayzengart is a board-certified general surgeon at Renown Health who specializes in minimally invasive and robotic procedures for obesity, reflux, and complex esophageal and stomach conditions. He provides the full spectrum of bariatric surgery—including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisions—as well as non-surgical weight-loss treatments such as GLP-1 and non-GLP-1 medications, with no referral required. He also treats GERD, stomach cancer, gallbladder disease, and hernias using advanced technologies like the da Vinci 5 robotic system and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Ayzengart teaches as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, and has a strong background in research and surgical training. He earned his MD from the University of Michigan, completed residency at UCSF, and completed advanced fellowship training in laparoscopic, robotic, and bariatric surgery at Cedars-Sinai. He also served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, holding surgical leadership roles in Camp Pendleton and Yokosuka, Japan.
  • Karen Bain, RDN, LD, CDCES. Experienced Registered Dietitian with a demonstrated history of working in the health wellness and fitness industry. Skilled as a Certified Diabetes Educator, Heart Disease, Health Promotion, Employee Wellness, and Clinical Nutrition. Strong healthcare services professional with a Dietetic Internship focused in Nutrition from Oregon Health and Science University. Passionate about Lifestyle Medicine and nutrition prevention initiatives.
  • Kelsey West, MD. Dr. West is a graduate of UNR School of Medicine and UNR Family Medicine Residency. She currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, as well as has her Board Certification in Obesity Medicine. Dr. West enjoys nature, soccer, reading & connecting with the community to promote healthful living and preventive care.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Accreditation

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is a provider of continuing education credit through the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy.  This program is approved for 1 hours of continuing education credit for pharmacists.
