What is the Professions in Medicine + Assured Seat?

The PiM + Assured Seat is a selective opportunity that builds off of the PiM Honors Certificate Program for pre-medical students seeking a clear, supported route to medical school. Each year a selected few will earn an assured seat at UNR Med upon successful completion of academic, professional and program requirements alongside an application and interview.

This pathway reduces uncertainty, offers structured preparation, provides a seamless transition from undergraduate studies into medical school, and enhances students' competitiveness for residency and beyond.

Application and selection process

Interested students will be eligible to apply for the PiM + Assured Seat during their sophomore year (or equivalent) of the program.

Selection includes rigorous and competitive review and evaluation of:

  • Program application
  • Applicant interview
  • Academic and GPA readiness
  • Professionalism and growth potential

How to get started

The PiM + Assured Seat begins with admissions to the University of Nevada, Reno and the Honors College with participation in the PiM program.

Start your path:

  • Apply to the Honors College
  • Complete first year pre-requisites
  • Become eligible for PiM and submit an application for the PiM + Assured Seat your second year
