School of Medicine Orientation Week culminates with a white coat ceremony. The Arnold P. Gold Foundation Doctor of Medicine White Coat Ceremony welcomes incoming medical students and helps establish a psychological contract for the practice of medicine. The event emphasizes the importance of compassionate care for the patient as well as scientific proficiency. More than 95 percent of medical schools have a white coat ceremony. UNR Med held our first white coat ceremony in 1996 for the graduating class of 2000.
