The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) is a research-intensive, community-based medical school with campuses in Northern Nevada's metropolitan and rural areas. Through targeted growth and investment in education, clinical services and research, we are a resource for improving health care regionally and across the country.
The University of Nevada, Reno is situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills, with close proximity to Lake Tahoe. The main UNR Med campus is located on the north end of the University with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains.
We maintain additional site locations on Moana Lane, the Redfield Campus in South Reno, and a site in Elko, NV. Additionally, we offer virtual services in every county of the state demonstrating our reach in support of A Healthy Nevada.
Over the past 50 years, our medical campus has expanded to support interdisciplinary education, innovative research and hands-on learning. Today, our facilities include state-of-the-art spaces such as the Gross Anatomy Lab and Simulation Center.
Our biomedical research contributes significant breakthroughs in science and highlights the opportunity for entrepreneurial growth. We are transforming the future of health care with an investment our research facilities.
The Savitt Medical Library maintains multiple site locations to support our learners and faculty. Within the main campus library is the Great Basin History of Medicine Museum showcasing medicine in Nevada since 1850. Exhibits include: the Dr. Donald Mousel collection of over 100 eyeglasses dating from the 18th century; the Fred Anderson collection of early Nevada American artifacts and medical instruments; 19th-century surgery instruments; and early 2oth-century medical furniture and instruments. The library additionally maintains photographs and publications recording Nevada’s history of medicine.
