Office of Continuing Medical Education

Videoconferencing Software

We use the web-based video conferencing software called "Zoom" for connecting to CME courses. Below you will find instructions on downloading this free video conferencing software for the variety of devices you may use to join us.

Technology Requirements

  • Desktop Computer, Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone
  • Speakers/Headphones - Most laptops, tablets, and smartphones have built-in speakers.
  • Webcam - Recommended, but not required. Most laptops, tablets, and smartphones have built-in webcams.
  • Internet Connection - It is important to note that the audio and video quality of the connection directly correlates with the quality of your internet connection. Logging in with Zoom:

The easiest way to use zoom is to download zoom to your desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone and launch it from the icon on your device. After the initial install, you will follow 3 simple steps to log on (launch zoom from the icon, enter your name and 9-digit code, and click "Join"). To download zoom, go to www.zoom.us and scroll to the bottom of the screen where you will see a "download" link. Once you have clicked the link, it will take you to the download page where you will download the appropriate version of zoom based on your operating system. For tablet and smartphone users, you can download the zoom app from the app store.

To log onto zoom without downloading it to your device, follow the directions below:

  • Zoom - Go to www.zoom.us/join
  • Enter the code and password if requested
  • Click the "Join Meeting" button
  • Click "Run" when prompted
  • Select "Join with computer audio" when prompted
  • Enter your Name and Location into the "Name" box. Please be sure to enter your full name as this is how we will track attendance for CME purposes.

That's it! You will be in the meeting and auto-muted to prevent audio interference. To un-mute, click the microphone icon at the lower left-hand portion of your screen. Use the chat feature to ask questions. If you need technical assistance, please call 775-784-4791.
