Getting Started with Zoom
Videoconferencing Software
We use the web-based video conferencing software called "Zoom" for connecting to CME courses. Below you will find instructions on downloading this free video conferencing software for the variety of devices you may use to join us.
- Desktop Computer, Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone
- Speakers/Headphones - Most laptops, tablets, and smartphones have built-in speakers.
- Webcam - Recommended, but not required. Most laptops, tablets, and smartphones have built-in webcams.
- Internet Connection - It is important to note that the audio and video quality of the connection directly correlates with the quality of your internet connection. Logging in with Zoom:
- The easiest way to use zoom is to download zoom to your desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone and launch it from the icon on your device. After the initial install, you will follow 3 simple steps to log on (launch zoom from the icon, enter your name and 9-digit code, and click "Join"). To download zoom, go to www.zoom.us and scroll to the bottom of the screen where you will see a "download" link. Once you have clicked the link, it will take you to the download page where you will download the appropriate version of zoom based on your operating system. For tablet and smartphone users, you can download the zoom app from the app store.
To log onto zoom without downloading it to your device, follow the directions below:
- Zoom - Go to www.zoom.us/join
- Enter the code and password if requested
- Click the "Join Meeting" button
- Click "Run" when prompted
- Select "Join with computer audio" when prompted
- Enter your Name and Location into the "Name" box. Please be sure to enter your full name as this is how we will track attendance for CME purposes.
That's it! You will be in the meeting and auto-muted to prevent audio interference. To un-mute, click the microphone icon at the lower left-hand portion of your screen. Use the chat feature to ask questions. If you need technical assistance, please call 775-784-4791.
Desktop PC's and Laptops:
- Click the direct access link that was provided to you
- Follow the prompts to download and install Zoom
- Once installed, Zoom will launch
- Please follow any additional prompts i.e.; enter name, join audio by computer (please be sure to enter your full name as this is how we will track attendance for CME purposes).
Apple Devices (iPad and iPhone):
- Open the App Store on your device
- Search for "Zoom Cloud Meetings"
- Install the first option on the list (you will need to enter your Apple ID and password to download the free app to your device)
- Open the app and click "Join a Meeting" - enter the meeting ID code
Android Devices (Tablets and Smartphones):
- Open the Google Play app on your device
- Search for "Zoom Cloud Meetings"
- Install the first option on the list
- Open the app and click "Join a Meeting" - enter the meeting ID code
Phone Line
If you have unresolvable technical issues, you may access the meeting via a phone line. This option is not recommended as you will not be able to view the presenter or slides, ask questions or have your attendance be verified for CE/CME credit.
- Dial +1 (415) 762-9988 or +1 (646) 568-7788 AND follow the verbal instructions.
- When prompted, enter the meeting ID code followed by #
- Press # again

Where do I Download the Latest Version of Zoom?
Zoom regularly provides new versions of the Zoom desktop client and mobile app to release new features and fix bugs. We recommend upgrading to the latest version once it is available. You can also check which version you're currently running. Learn more about downloading Zoom.

How do I use Zoom on my PC or Mac?
After downloading Zoom, learn how to use the Zoom Desktop Client.
My video/camera isn't working.
If you have not already, test your video to confirm that the correct camera is selected and adjust your video settings. Learn how to test your video.
- Make sure that all other programs that utilize the camera, such as Photo Booth and Facetime, are closed.

There is echo in my meeting.
Echo can be caused by many things, such as a participant connected to the meeting audio on multiple devices or two participants joined in from the same local. 3 possible causes:
- A participant has both the computer and telephone audio active
- Participants with computer or telephones speakers that are too close to each other
- Multiple computer with active audio in the same conference room

I Cannot Hear the Presenter(s)
Adjusting the Zoom audio on the PC
Audio isn't working on my mobile device.
If you cannot hear other participants in a Zoom meeting, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue.
- Ensure your speaker is turned on. If you see the speaker icon in the top-left corner is turned off, tap it to turn on your speaker.
- Increase the volume on your mobile device using the volume buttons or notification panel. Even if the speaker is turned on in Zoom, your device's volume might be set to mute or vibrate only.
- Try using earphones.
- Restart your mobile device & Reinstall Zoom
