Specimen Identification Label tube with patient's first and last name, DOB and date/time of collection.
Special Instructions
  • Sample may be stored up to 5 days at 2-8° C.
  • Centrifuge and remove serum from clot as soon as possible and before storing. Transfer separated serum or plasma to labeled plastic transport tube.
  • If need to store longer than 5 days, serum or plasma may be frozen at -20° C or colder
  • Specimens with precipitate should be clarified by centrifugation
  • Do not use heat-inactivated specimens
Shipping Requirements Store and ship at refrigerated temperature 2-8° C.

  • Gross Hemolysis
  • Heat-inactivated specimen
  • Mislabeled/Unlabeled specimen
  • Specimen quantity not sufficient for testing (QNS)
  • Specimen containing sodium azide.
  • Improper specimen transport or storage
