Test Scope |
- This test detects antibodies to Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). The test detects both IgG and IgM. Note that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that diagnostic testing for HCV be performed with possible supplemental testing. Specimen Identification |
Label tube with patient’s first and last name, DOB and date/time of collection. |
Special Instructions |
- Sample may be stored up to 7 days at 2-8° C. If longer freeze at -20° C or colder.
- Centrifuge and remove serum from clot as soon as possible and before storing
- Do not use heat-inactivated specimens.
- Specimens with precipitate should be clarified by centrifugation.
- Serum collection tubes should not be used with heparinized patients, use plasma collection tubes.

Sample Rejection Criteria |
- Grossly Lipemic or Gross Hemolysis specimen.
- Mislabeled/Unlabeled specimen.
- Specimen quantity not sufficient for testing (QNS)
- Heat-inactivated specimens
- Improper specimen transport or storage.
