Services
Before coming to our clinic, you should be aware that:
- All patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis; therefore we strongly recommend that you come early, or we may not be able to see you.
- We can only extend our services to those without medical insurance or those covered by Medicare and Medicaid. If you have any other kind of medical insurance, please contact your primary care physician for medical care. However, if you are insured but your children are not covered, we welcome your children at our clinics.
- It may be deemed in the course of your treatment that lab work is necessary. We can only do labs that our physicians have ordered, so if you come in seeking to have a lab done ordered by your primary care doctor, please go to a professional lab-drawing service.
- All of our clinics are conducted by medical students who are overseen by licensed physicians. We work together with nutritional, community health, and social services students to meet as many of your needs as possible
- Our providers and medical students are trained to take care of the needs of the LGBTQ+ population. The SOC is a safe space; we have absolutely zero tolerance for hate, discrimination, and judgement. If you are interested in seeking mental healthcare services, please email us at soclgbtq@gmail.com. Spanish interpreters are at all clinics.
Services Menu
The Comprehensive Clinic provides general medical care, including complete physical exams and nutrition counseling. Physical exams are done to help determine illness, but can also be done for school, work, or sports participation. All patients are welcome to this clinic and all types of staff are on hand to provide any type of medical care needed. Services offered at these free clinics include: screenings, diagnosis, lab services, x-rays, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, some treatments and referrals. The comprehensive clinics are generally offered at least twice a month.
Our next FREE flu shot clinic is to be determined, please check back later for the scheduled date and time. Vaccines are always offered at every clinic at the SOC.
The Pediatric Clinic provides medical care for pediatric patients from newborns to teenagers. It includes free immunizations to patients who are 18-years-old and younger, Head Start physicals, sick child visits, well child checks and nutrition counseling. Children are also welcome at any of our other clinics. Pediatric clinics are usually offered twice a month in conjunction with the comprehensive/general clinics.
The Geriatric (55+) Clinic provides services and care to the elderly population in Northern Nevada. The clinic is in part sponsored by the Nevada Geriatric Education Center, which helps to promote the clinic among its clients and provides geriatric-specific resources. Some of the services offered at the clinic are social services and nutrition counseling. Appointments are usually scheduled for the geriatric clinic, which takes place twice every school semester, but walk-ins are welcome. The Dermatology Clinic provides quality care and medical service to patients with any problems related to the skin. Medical students and University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine board-certified dermatologists evaluate and treat any skin conditions and concerns for patients of all ages. Our services include skin biopsies, cryotherapy and surgical excision and drainage. While this clinic is largely appointment-based, walk-ins are welcome. This clinic is held twice every semester. Our Rural Outreach Clinics provide free Hypertension and Diabetes screenings, Flu shots, and routine exams to cities in rural Nevada. For more information regarding the rural outreach clinic, please email studentoutreachclinic@med.unr.edu.
