Overview

The purpose of this activity is to improve the clinicians' ability to identify and assess suicidal patients accurately.

Learning Objectives

Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:

  • Distinguish risk factors from warning signs and learn to more accurately assess suicidal patients
  • Elicit biological and psychosocial contributions to suicidal causes so that they can be immediately addressed thus reducing the need for suicidal behavior
  • Construct narratives that underpin suicidality with the goal of understanding why a patient is suicidal and what can be done to ameliorate suicidal distress
