This is part one of a two-part Nevada Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (NRHP) 2021 series. Learn the latest in safe opioid prescribing practices for rural hospitals and ERs. Free for all Nevada Critical Access Hospital Practitioners.

Learning Objectives

Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:

Explore our history with opioids and AB 474
Examine the neurobiology of addiction
Discuss treatment options including Medication-Assisted Treatment
Discuss the pain pathway
Recognize and recommend non-opioid alternatives to treat chronic pain
Utilize opioid risk assessments and know when to choose a patient vs physician-driven assessment
Evaluate and treat pain in the acute care setting
