About Us

Frontier Area Health Education Center (Frontier AHEC) is one of three regional Area Health Education Centers that make up the Nevada AHEC Program. Based in Elko and affiliated with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, Frontier AHEC serves six rural and frontier counties across northeastern Nevada.

Our mission is to strengthen Nevada's healthcare workforce by developing educational pathways that prepare students for healthcare careers while supporting healthcare professionals and community partners who serve rural and underserved populations.

Through partnerships with schools, healthcare organizations, community leaders, and educational institutions, Frontier AHEC helps build healthier communities by connecting education with real-world practice.

What We Do

Frontier AHEC supports learners at every stage of their healthcare journey, from middle and high school students exploring careers to college students preparing for professional practice and healthcare providers seeking continued growth. Our programs combine classroom learning with real-world experiences that strengthen both professional skills and community connections.

Our Service Area

Frontier AHEC proudly serves seven counties across northeastern Nevada: Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, White Pine, Pershing, Mineral.
