The Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners has generously provided funding for 140 dental professionals to take this course for free. After the 140 complimentary registrations have been used, the registration fee will increase to $100.
Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based practice aimed at identifying and addressing problematic drug and alcohol use early to promote healthier behaviors and reduce risks to overall health, including oral health. This structured approach involves healthcare professionals, including dental clinicians such as dentists and dental hygienists, assessing patients' substance use behaviors to mitigate risks such as oral cancer and other systemic conditions that affect oral health. By integrating SBIRT into dental settings, clinicians can play a vital role in early detection and intervention while encouraging patients to adopt healthier behaviors. This personalized and preventive approach is highly feasible in dentistry, enhancing comprehensive care and fostering better health outcomes.
