Overview

The purpose of this activity is to introduce clinicians to FDA-approved opioid agonist medications for the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder.

Objectives

Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:

  • Introduce the FDA-approved opioid agonist medications for the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder
  • Detail opioid withdrawal management with buprenorphine and methadone
  • Examine the benefits and risks of buprenorphine and methadone
  • Identify adjunct medications that may assist in opioid withdrawal management
  • Discuss challenges with Medication-Assisted Treatment using agonist medications
  • Provide additional resources for patients and clinicians
