Overview

This session will explore common study strategies through the lens of current learning science and discuss practical approaches for helping learners retain and apply large amounts of clinical information. Faculty will also examine ways to support healthy study habits, promote wellness, and guide learners toward resources that can help them succeed throughout their training. Whether you work with medical students or residents, this session will provide useful ideas for coaching, mentoring, and supporting learners in today's demanding educational environment.

Learning Objectives

Following participation in this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Differentiate between effective and ineffective study techniques based on current cognitive science research
  • Practice active recall and spaced repetition methods specifically adapted for high-volume clinical data
  • Design a time-management framework that balances academic rigor with personal wellness to prevent burnout
  • Identify institutional resources, such as learning specialists or academic coaches, for long-term support

To receive credit for meeting the training requirements associated with your Community Faculty appointment or the Academic Clinical Faculty Meaningful Participation Program, you must complete both of the following steps:

  2. Claim CME/CE credit after completing the video.
