Overview

The Nevada Physician Wellness Coalition was developed by physicians in Nevada for physicians. The coalition is a completely independent Nevada non-profit 501c3 organization. Our mission is to address the devastation and negative community impact of physician burnout and suicide.

Physician burnout has become an epidemic and the number of physicians that have depression is significant along with the number of physician suicides. This topic has not been widely discussed and many physicians are still unaware of the problem and what options exist to help support them.

Objectives

Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the high rates of burnout as well as apply the skill sets and resources available to treat burnout and/or depression
  • Adopt personal strategies to enhance self-care and therefore enhance patient care
  • Recognize signs of suicidal ideation and incorporate strategies for preventing suicide and offering resources to colleagues who show sign
