Volunteering with the Sanford Center for Aging

Sanford Center for Aging, where we love our volunteers! Join us in enhancing the quality of life for older adults in Northern Nevada! All volunteers are provided with orientation and training, supplemental insurance, recognition for your contributions, and optional mileage reimbursement.

We have a variety of volunteer options, based on your interests, availability, and age. To learn more, view our volunteer opportunities page. You can also reach out directly at (775) 784-1807 or sanfordvolunteers@unr.edu.

Are you 18+ and want to volunteer?

We have flexible options to fit with your schedule! You can volunteer to drive your own vehicle, providing transportation for people over 60 to doctor's appointments, events, classes and activities, or even grocery shopping. Join the Volunteer Transportation Program and select the rides that work for you!

You can also volunteer to provide a weekly visit to seniors who are 60 years and older, low-income, and in need of a friend. Senior Outreach Services (SOS) matches seniors with a volunteer to help them “Age in Place,” and volunteers are engaged in a meaningful service that enriches their own lives.

Are you 55+ and want to volunteer?

The Sanford Center for Aging is an AmeriCorps Seniors grantee and receives funding through their RSVP program, which pairs Americans aged 55 and older with organizations making change in our community. Make Giving Back Your Second Act! Our team will help you find a service opportunity you are passionate about – either at the Sanford Center for Aging or one of our local partner organizations. We offer a wide variety of opportunities where you can use the skills and talents you've learned over the years, or develop new ones – and find an option that fits with your schedule.
