Networking for HIV Care: Autumn Update

Overview

The 27th annual Autumn Update will feature expert faculty presenting on the latest topics in the treatment and prevention of HIV, with the goal of providing practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to continue to deliver quality care to patients infected and affected by HIV.

Learning Objectives

Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the medical considerations for women with HIV who are experiencing the transition to menopause
  • List potential screening tools, treatment options, and resources for women with HIV who are experiencing menopause
  • Explain the concepts and significance related to perinatal HIV management
  • Determine appropriate HIV perinatal antiretroviral therapies in reduction of mother to child transmission based on most current guidelines 
  • Outline and apply the guidelines for chest feeding for HIV positive moms
  • Discuss an overview of GLP-1s and how they work
  • Review the effects of GLP-1s in people with diabetes and/or obesity
  • Review the non-approved uses of GLP-1s in other disease states
  • Discuss the key concerns regarding the use of GLP-1s in PWH
  • Identify recommended age-appropriate preventative health screenings for people living with HIV, including cardiovascular disease risk assessment, metabolic complications, malignancy screening, and bone and kidney health 
  • Apply current evidence-based recommendations for managing common comorbidities in people living with HIV, including recognition of clinically significant drug–drug interactions between antiretroviral therapy and commonly prescribed primary care medications 
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to address psychosocial determinants of health, including mental health, substance use, and social support, to improve engagement in care and overall health outcomes for people living with HIV

Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, mental health providers, public health professionals, administrators and other care providers are encouraged to attend.
