Eating Disorders in Clinical Practice: Raising the Bar on Standards of Care
Overview
Feeding and eating disorders are on the rise. These are prevalent, chronic, and life-threatening illnesses that impact individuals of all ages. Medical providers remain largely ill equipped to prevent, diagnose and treat these illnesses. This lack of training and experience leads to moral injury and poor outcomes. This presentation provides a practical, foundational overview of the DSMV feeding and eating disorders, risk factors, common signs and symptoms, and consequences.
Learning Objectives
Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the symptoms of DSMV feeding and eating disorders
- Identify common signs and symptoms of an eating disorder in outpatient medical practice
- Explain the consequences of Feeding and Eating Disorders
Program Faculty
Lindsey Ricciardi, Ph.D., CEDS-C, Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders and related concerns. In addition to completing a focused internship and fellowship in eating disorders, she is certified by the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders and she is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
