Overview

Integrating medical and dental care is essential to supporting children’s overall health and wellness, as oral health is closely connected to physical health and well-being. The purpose of the Silver State Smiles project is to strengthen this integration by equipping pediatric primary care providers with the resources and tools needed to incorporate oral health and fluoride varnish into well-child visits.

The toolkit complements the accompanying video training and includes practical resources such as checklists, a decision flowchart, sample consent forms, and parent education handouts. The tools in the toolkit are designed to help providers integrate oral health into their practice, support consistent fluoride varnish delivery, and provide families with clear, practical information. Together, the training and toolkit provide pediatric primary care providers with resources to support improved oral health for Nevada’s children.

The Nevada Health Authority works to ensure access to affordable, reliable care by leveraging the state's buying power, streamlining programs and services, and driving better quality and more innovation in the health care system, while staying true to the values of public service, fiscal discipline, and accountable leadership.
