Faculty Pipelines

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is working to develop pipelines and partnerships that will aid in the recruitment of faculty from our Mission Based Diversity Groups, in conjunction with the Office of Professional Recruitment. Additionally, we work to provide students with the opportunity to shadow and work in rural fields to encourage careers in rural medicine.

Academy for Development in Academic Medicine

The Office of Graduate Medical Education, in partnership with the Office of Faculty Development, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Office of Professional Development, has launched a program for residents, fellows, and graduate and postdoctoral students who are interested in careers in academic medicine. This program, called the Academy for Development in Academic Medicine (ADAM), began July of 2017 and is currently in its fourth year.

The ADAM program is a 3-year longitudinal program that occurs throughout one's graduate/resident educational tenure and involves training in the skill set needed for a career in academic medicine. Educational sessions are scheduled each month and cover topics related to the development of academic medicine career skills (teaching, scholarship, and leadership).  The program involves a mentorship component, where students have quarterly check-ins with ADAM program directors and they also select faculty mentors and work with them longitudinally. The program culminates with a longitudinal scholarly project and a certificate of completion.
